34 years before this European Tour, Alan Johnson watched “West Side Story” as part of the audience in a theatre. He was so moved and impressed, he saw it 13 times!

As a dancer, his dream was to join the show and the following year this dream became true.

The 1992 European Tour was Alan Johnson’s 9th direction of “West Side Story” and time after time, he was deeply impressed by its power and effect on stage and by the talent of its authors.

Some people feared “West Side Story” couldn’t be a long lasting show as it was about New York street gang life in the Fifties, but Alan Johnson is deeply convinced Hate and Love are timeless.

And in fact, after so many years the audience is still amazed by “West Side Story”, which means that it can be really considered one of the Greatest “Classics”.
